I'm counting down. Alone (huhuhu). Blame it on a severe case of insomnia. My boys are fast asleep, snoring their way to dreamland. I can't sleep. Not only because ten pm is not bedtime for me yet, but also because in about an hour's time, we're supposed to pick up my mom and dad at the airport! Yaaaay!
This afternoon, while Roo was biking around our tiny living room, he noticed that I was extraordinarily happy. So he asked, "Mommy, why are you happy?"
I told him I'm happy because my mommy and daddy are coming! He beamed me a smile that said he understood the feeling, then said, "I'm happy too mommy, that your mommy and daddy are coming."
That's an understatement. The last time my mom and dad were here, he didn't even eat for many days because he got too excited! This time I didn't even want to start a countdown with him, for fear that all his physiological processes and schedules will get skewed again. But nothing can stop him from planning what he'll do with his "dodo and doda" when they arrive. He knew that they were coming in April, and for more than three months, I had to put up with "Mommy, is it April already?" just about everyday. He claimed one of our desk calendars as his own, asked me to show him where April was, then proceeded to inform us what he would do with dodo and doda on this "number" and that "number," pointing to the dates, as if he really knew what he was talking about. His dad and I could only smile in amusement.
The next twenty days with dodo and doda will surely be busy for Roo. He has lots of stories to tell, many new songs to sing for them, and he's excited to show them how to do puppet shows! He also can't wait to show them that he can now ride the bike that they gave him as a present for his 2nd birthday. He's going to a farm with them, watch traditional and modern cow-milking with them, learn how to make ice cream with them. For Songkran, he's going to the beach with them! Of course, he doesn't forget to add, "And with mommy and daddy too!"
Exciting days ahead for me too! Since I will have very willing babysitters, it means I can go out on a date with MY man (finally! It's hard to even have a meaningful conversation these days). I also need to finish my med transcription course, catch up with my reading, take up a short cooking class, and hopefully, do a lot of blog-hopping, if not blogging :D

I remember when my mil came here for a short visit last May 2007, my kids were very excited too.
Ann, I can just imagine your kids' excitement, having their lola visit them too! I'm sure they had a great time with her! :D
Kami nga noon eh, nasa kabilang bahay lang lolo at lola namin, at araw-araw halos nakikita sila, excited pa rin when we got to spend time with them. Lalo na siguro 'tong mga anak nating malalayo sa mga grandparents nila.

Don't you just love the anticipation? And Roo catches it from you. I also love it when I get to see my parents and I always die with the excitement.
Have a great time with your parents. And yes - do get your date with your man. ;)
My name is Anne, hu-o gid, super kulit, he never got tired of asking, kis-a makabulongol :D And yes, fun, fun, fun days are here for all of us!
Toe, the anticipation and excitement becomes too much for me, I go sleepless for weeks ahead kaya I had to stop myself from counting down. It's easier to wait when you're not waiting, you know!
We're already having a great time with my mom and dad--still haven't found the chance to go out alone with MY man though. Promise I will do that soon!
hayy..so much reminds me of my own little girl..when we were to go to adelaide for a week to attend a friend's wedding..we had an early flight so we went to bed early.maeve was just so excited that she woke up 3am...much to our dismay..we tried evrything to put her back to sleep...didnt work for her.So all of us were sleep deprived that day...until we got in the plane..maeve slept through the whole flight.ive learnt my lesson ..i will not tell her in advance otherwise she'll annoy me with asking this big W word..WHEN!?Toddlers dont just have that concept of time.
I'm happy that your Mom and Dad are coming over too, Ann.
I hear you. My kids are so excited when we have guests coming over for months at a time. Family is always fun to have around.
Finally! You can have a date! I can relate.
Mira, yup, your little girl is definitely one normal toddler who gets so excited she (and everybody else esp the mommy!) cant sleep! :D And just like my Roo, Maeve knew how exactly how to catch up on her sleep too! :D
Despite our loss of sleep, their excitement makes events and occasions more exciting, don't you think?
Greymom, you are so right! Families are always fun to have around, especially for our kids, since they get to play with people other than us, hehe. Plus all the trips, outings, and doing things together that come with the visit.
Yes, I did get to have that date! Can hardly wait for the next one :D
